“Neon Diary” by Tachpasit Kunaporn
“Neon diary originally came from the death of my grandmother. The whole series is about the cycle of life and death which is resonated to the flickering of light.”
Neon Diary’ a project by Tachpasit Kunaporn, a photographer based in Bangkok, Thailand. The project started out with the death of his grandmother and 2 accidental photos, one of his grandmother’s casket and another of his bed in the same perspective. “It gave me nostalgic feelings and melancholy also the vast of inside emptiness.” Beyond that his work examines Buddhist philosophy; the cycle of life and death, which he metaphorically equate with Neon lights. “Beyond the capable of human perception, We can’t perceive the state of inconstant of light. It’s similar to the way of mundane life which we don’t realize the existence of inconstancy.” The project is personal and it does show in the images; a book of memories, intimacy and vulnerability.
The project is still on-going and is now in ‘phase 3’. “Nowadays , Im still shooting more of my project by shooting less.”
