Selected images from Adi Putra, a photographer/filmmaker from Jakarta, Indonesia based in Tokyo, Japan. Moved to LA at 18 to study filmmaking, Adi experimented with photography along the way.
He started out as a music photographer shooting for local shows and music festivals. To go to shows for free and make some new friends? - Who wouldn’t want that. However, he found himself depleted and unfulfilled. "I wasn’t fully satisfied,” Adi mentioned. “I felt like I wanted to create photos that I can be hands-on with them creatively. So, I dived into fashion photography and it just clicked.” Adi uses film as his medium. The results is his images have a vintage - nostalgic essence. Using film fills the gap where digital couldn’t achieve. At the same time experimenting with colors, different probs, make up and composition contribute to an almost dream-like aesthetic.
“I got my inspiration mostly from life, from experiencing highest highs and lowest lows in life. That way I can discover my likes and dislikes. So, I feel like inspiration can come from anything we face in life.”
