“The Nursery” by Kraiwitch Tungsomboon

“The Nursery,” a project by Kraiwitch Tungsomboon, a photographer from Bangkok, Thailand. His project collects memories of his childhood growing up in a nursery home. “We all have moments that we’d always miss or like to return to. these words ringing loudly through my head while growing up”

Visiting his childhood memories is the best medicine for the pain of growing up as Kraiwitch mentioned. “From what I’ve learned from my time in university, I’ve been exposed to many types of photography techniques I found interesting. Therefor, my work tends to be a mix of everything from fashion, conceptual to contemporary art.”

His images are filled with bright color palettes; a world of Teletubbies first comes to mind as his work also captures the innocence of a child having fun with his/her friends. Nevertheless, he adds a satirical edge to his work as it is almost a parody of old magazines or posters we found in beauty salons in Thailand from the 90s. His work captures the feeling of looking back in time with nostalgia teary eyes. “The process is so much fun having to go to back to a friend’s house and go through old photos together or to interview my mom and people from the nursery home made me very happy”
