Photographer Highlight |Pakapol Wannao
Pakapol Wannao, a 21 year old Thai artist based in Bangkok, Thailand. Being a 3rd year film and photography student at Chulalongkorn University, he is very interested in exploring mixed media; especially photography, video, animation and projection mapping.
As Pakapol states, “I’m currently interested is creating interactive photographs. I think this will push the boundaries of the photographic medium and create new aesthetics.”
Pakapol’s work tells different stories from his experience, whether it’d be his childhood memories, his emotions or his beliefs through a realm of fantasy. “I'm interested in ghosts, monsters, spirits because one of my favorite artists is 'Apichatpong Weerasehakul', who is both a film director and a multidisciplinary artist. He has inspired me a lot, and has helped me in shaping my visuals.” His work is intriguing in not knowing what we, as an audience, would encounter since his work is diverse in its presentations. Following his intuition, he explores with different types of media he sees fit with his images. “My working process is quite flexible. I prefer to focus on the post-production process; think of how I can make it best convey the story I want to tell.”
